Blood diseases are becoming increasingly prevalent in China, among which thalassemia is a common disease in hematology departments in southern China, and has even become a social public health problem in some high-risk areas. Regarding thalassemia, blood transfusion and iron removal therapy are common treatment methods, but there are adverse reactions such as iron overload and immune reactions. Regarding how to use existing methods to reduce adverse reactions and improve patients' quality of life, after research, the Hematology Branch of Chengdu High tech Medical Association will launch a series of academic exchange meetings on iron removal diagnosis and treatment in 2024 to conduct interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment exchanges, explore the management process of thalassemia, strengthen diagnosis and treatment standards, and bring more benefits to patients. The first academic exchange conference on iron removal diagnosis and treatment series of the Blood Branch was successfully held on March 8, 2024.
