In the light of the late summer, the public welfare activity with the theme of “guarding the hemodialysis access” carried out by Chengdu High-tech Medical Association Blood Purification Specialized Committee kicked off on August 19th, the occasion of Physician's Day. This activity is not only a commemoration of Physician's Day, but also a concrete practice of medical workers to fulfill their social responsibility and serve the public.

Academician Chen Xiangmei shared the latest data from China's National Renal Disease Data System (CNRDS) at the 2024 Annual Academic Meeting of the Chinese Physicians Association Nephrologists Branch. The data showed that by the end of December 2023, the number of hemodialysis patients nationwide was close to 920,000, with nearly 190,000 new patients in 2023 alone. The rapid growth of this number underscores the urgency of the need for hemodialysis treatment and the great importance the medical community places on the quality of life aspect of dialysis patients. 

In the field of hemodialysis treatment, the role of vascular access is indispensable, as it is the channel that maintains the fountain of life, and is therefore known as the “life vein” of dialysis patients. However, patients' limited knowledge of vascular access has led to repeated setbacks in their quest for medical treatment.
