Prof. Liu Mengjie, chairman of the palliative care committee of the Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, was invited to attend the "Seminar on Frontier Issues in Palliative Care" and gave an academic lecture.

On November 27, 2024, the academic lecture "Discussion on the Frontier Issues of Palliative Care" was held at Liulin campus of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE). The lecture was organized by the China Institute of Healthy Development at SWUFE and attended by master's and doctoral students as well as young teachers from various disciplines such as sociology, finance, computer science, and public health management

Prof. Liu Mengjie, chairman of the palliative care committee of the Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, was invited to attend the academic "Discussion on the Frontier Issues of Palliative Care" as a guest speaker. Palliative care focuses on the quality of life at the end of life and is important part of achieving health throughout the life cycle. Prof. Liu Mengjie introduced to the participants the current status of the palliative care service system in China, well as the frontier issues in the development of palliative care, such as advance directives, ACP, and death education.

Director's Biography

Liu Mengjie, Professor, Ph.D. in Nursing from the Third Military Medical University, Visiting Scholar at MASAOSPITAL in Italy, currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Nursing Department at the Affiliated Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Medicine (Chengdu First People's Hospital). She is a master's thesis supervisor, with a main research focus on palliative care. She is the Deputy of the Youth Committee of the Palliative Medical Branch of the Chinese Research Society on Geriatric Health, Standing Committee Member of the Professional Committee on Humanistic Nursing of Chinese Life Care Association, faculty member of the first joint Sino-British end-of-life care training, invited expert of the Medical Social Work Professional Committee of Chinese Social Work Federation, review expert for the national pilot projects of palliative care by the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission, Deputy Director of the Palliative Care Committee of the Sichuan Nursing Society, expert in the expert database of the Sichuan Geriatric Health Development Center, and Director of the Palliative Care Committee of the Chengdu High-tech Medical Association. She is a reviewer for the journal "Journal of palliative care", and the person in charge of the provincial course on course ideology and politics, "Palliative Medicine", for master's students in Sichuan Province. She has undertaken more than 30 national provincial research projects, and has won the second prize for technological progress from the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the second prize for technological progress from the Chinese Nursing Society and the third prize for technological progress from the Sichuan Medical Association. She has edited and co-edited 8 textbooks, and has published more than 0 research papers.

Throughout the lecture, Professor Liu Mengjie narrated stories and cases, prompting attendees to better understand and cope with the end of life.
