Sponsored by Chengdu Hi-tech Medical Association and co-sponsored by West China Hospital of Sichuan University and the First Clinical Pathology Branch of Chengdu Hi-tech Medical Association, the "Third Academic Conference of the First Clinical Pathology Branch and West China Special Conference on Pathological Diagnosis of Chest Diseases" was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan on October 19-20, 2024. On the morning of October 19, 2024, "the Third Academic Conference of the First Clinical Pathology Branch and the Special Conference on the Pathological Diagnosis of Chest Diseases in West China" was officially opened. Professor Wang Weiya, Chairman of the first Clinical Pathology Branch of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, served as the host of the opening ceremony. The importance of the conference in promoting exchanges in the field of pathology, especially in the diagnosis of thoracic diseases, was also emphasized.

A number of top pathological diagnosis experts from West China Hospital of Sichuan University took turns to present a series of high-level special reports on the hot and difficult issues in the pathological diagnosis of chest diseases, bringing an academic feast to the participants.
With his profound academic attainments, Professor Zhang Shangfu shared the fifth edition of WHO Principles and Case Sharing for Small Sample Pathological Diagnosis of Lung Cancer, providing valuable diagnostic ideas for participants. Combined with practical experience, Professor Zhou Ping in-depth analyzed the "Experience and lessons of intraoperative freezing diagnosis of Lung tissue" and "Pathological Diagnosis and case sharing of SMARCA4-deficient tumors in the Chest", providing operational guidelines for peers to learn from. Professor Lili Jiang's "Introduction to Primary Lymphohematopoietic Tumors of the Lung" and "Introduction to interstitial Lung Disease" broadened the boundaries of the participants' professional knowledge; Professor Zhou Yongzhao's Clinical Whole Process Management of Pulmonary Nodules provided valuable guidance for clinical practice. Professor Wang Weiya's "Pathological Diagnosis of Thymus Tumors" and "Pathological Diagnosis and Differential Diagnosis of AAH, AIS and MIA" further refined the accuracy of pathological diagnosis of chest diseases. Professor Liu Xiaoyu and Professor Li Xiaoyuan respectively made detailed interpretation on the application of elastic fiber staining and immunohistochemical overstaining technology in pathological diagnosis, and the analysis of the template report of lung cancer radical treatment specimen.
