In order to promote academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of hernia and abdominal wall surgery, promote disciplinary development and innovation, and provide new technology dissemination and technical guidance for primary medical institutions. On April 12, 2025, sponsored by Chengdu High-tech Medical Association and co-sponsored by Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences, Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital and Lezhi County People's Hospital, the "Establishment Conference of Hernia and Abdominal Surgery Branch Specialist Alliance and Academic Forum on Hernia and Abdominal Surgery" was held in Lezhi County People's Hospital of Sichuan Province. With the core goal of "technology sinking, resource sharing, and service at the grassroots level", nearly 200 experts and representatives of grassroots doctors in the field of hernia and abdominal surgery attended the conference. Through the establishment of specialist alliances, academic exchanges and surgical demonstrations, high-quality medical resources were promoted to sink to the grassroots level and help improve the level of county diagnosis and treatment.

After the opening ceremony, the establishment meeting of the first Specialty Alliance of hernia and Abdominal Wall Surgery Branch of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association was held, and the recommendation and qualification review report of 36 alliance members were reported at the meeting. According to the relevant provisions of the Constitution and Academic Organization Management Measures of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, the conference passed the deliberation, and democratically elected the first leading team of the specialized Union of hernia and Abdominal Surgery Branch, such as the chairman and vice chairman. Professor Yang Chun from Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital served as the chairman of the Alliance, Professor Fan Jianxin from Jiang 'an County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Professor Yang Guang from Lezhi County People's Hospital, and Professor Zheng Bixiang from Santai County People's Hospital were elected as the vice chairman of the alliance (in order of surname Pinyin). 35 primary medical institutions became the first batch of alliance members and were awarded the license. The establishment of the alliance marks a key step in the integration of high-quality medical resources in the field of hernia and abdominal surgery in Sichuan Province. In the future, it will promote the standardized development of diagnosis and treatment in grass-roots hospitals through technical assistance, personnel training, and scientific research collaboration.

The academic conference focused on the needs of primary medical care. Well-known domestic experts from Beijing Chaoyang Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, Southern Hospital of Southern Medical University, and West China Hospital of Sichuan University shared cutting-edge technologies and practical experience, and many experts and scholars jointly discussed the latest research results and technical progress of hernia and abdominal wall surgery.

There were three live presentations of laparoscopic surgery and seven themed lectures, covering the development and coping strategies of primary hernia surgery, the clinical application experience of hernia patch and fixation device, the surgical demonstration of laparoscopic hiato-esophageal hernia repair and inguinal hernia repair, and the experience and strategies of handling large or complex inguinal hernia.
