In order to build an academic exchange platform in the field of thoracic tumors, gather industry wisdom, standardize clinical diagnosis and treatment, and promote academic innovation and development in the field of thoracic tumors. On April 26, 2025, the "Inaugural Meeting of the Thoracic Oncology Professional Committee and the First Academic Annual Meeting" jointly sponsored by the Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, the West China Hospital of Sichuan University and the First People's Hospital of Chengdu was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan. More than 100 experts and scholars from inside and outside the province gathered in Chengdu to attend the event.

  The meeting reported on the recommendation of 168 candidates for committee members and the report on their qualifications. The conference passed the deliberation and democratically elected the standing members, chairmen, chairman-elect and vice chairmen of the first special committee leadership of the thoracic tumor special committee. Professor Xue Jianxin and Professor Pu Qiang of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Professor Jiang Qing of Chengdu First People's Hospital served as honorary chairmen of the special committee; Professor Liu Chengwu of West China Hospital of Sichuan University was elected as the chairman of the special committee, and Professor He Tao of the First People's Hospital of Chengdu was elected as the chairman-designate of the special committee; Professor Tian Lei from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Professor Mao Ning from Yongchuan Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Medical University, Professor Deng Senyi from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Professor Zhang Rui from Chengdu Seventh People's Hospital, Professor Wei Qiang from West China Airport Hospital of Sichuan University, Professor Ren Fuqiang from Chengdu Sixth People's Hospital, Professor Li Zhengguang from Chengdu First People's Hospital, Professor Guo Chenglin from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Professor Shen Yi from West China Fourth Hospital of Sichuan University, Professor Wu Zhiqiang from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College, and Professor Wang Yifan from the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University , Professor Ke Hua of Chengdu Seventh People's Hospital, and Professor Gong Sheng of Chengdu Public Health Clinical Medical Center were elected as vice chairmen of the special committee.

   Professor Liu Chengwu, the chairman-elect, said: "In the future, the special committee will make full use of the platform of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association to build a cross-regional technical support platform, strengthen the capacity building of grassroots specialties, and create more learning and communication opportunities for grassroots hospitals and young doctors in the field of thoracic tumors."

   Among the 91 party members and comrades of the special committee, after recommendation and discussion, the party branch of the society agreed to be composed of He Tao, Wei Qiang and Zhang Rui as members of the party's working group, of which Comrade He Tao served as the leader of the party's working group, Comrade Wei Qiang was responsible for discipline inspection and organizational work, and Comrade Zhang Rui was responsible for propaganda work. At the meeting, Comrade He Tao led all the members to study the interpretation of the spirit of the eight provisions of the Central Committee.

   The academic conference was presided over by Professor Liu Chengwu, Chairman of the First Thoracic Oncology Committee of West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, and Professor Jiang Qing of Chengdu First People's Hospital and Professor Ai He, Vice President and Deputy Secretary-General of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, delivered speeches at the conference. Subsequently, with the participation and witness of many leaders and guests, the first academic annual meeting of the Thoracic Oncology Professional Committee of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association was grandly held, marking the start of the special committee.
