To promote the development of the geriatrics specialty and enhance the standardization of diagnosis and treatment, the "1st Geriatrics Committee Transition Conference & 4th Academic Annual Meeting & 8th Hand-in-Hand Program—2025 Chengdu Cardiovascular Forum & Comprehensive Management Training on Rational Drug Use for the Elderly," hosted by the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association and organized by Chengdu Third People's Hospital, was successfully held from May 24 to 25, 2025.
The conference focused on the latest advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in the elderly, covering hot topics such as heart failure management, antithrombotic therapy, the application of novel lipid-lowering drugs, and comprehensive management strategies for hypertension with comorbidities and metabolic disorders. Several renowned experts were invited to deliver specialized lectures, fostering academic exchange and research in geriatrics while promoting advanced treatment concepts and practical technologies.
The event attracted over 2,000 experts and scholars both online and offline, providing a vital platform for academic exchange and discipline development in geriatrics and further contributing to the high-quality advancement of the specialty.
01 Opening ceremony
At the opening ceremony, Professor Wu Jing from Chengdu Third People's Hospital delivered a speech as the host, extending a warm welcome to the leaders, experts, scholars, and attendees present at the conference. She also expressed sincere gratitude to the hospital and association leaders for their long-term support of the committee's work and the continued success of the cardiovascular forum.

Next, Professor Xu Junbo from Chengdu Third People's Hospital delivered a speech, highlighting the opportunities and challenges for geriatrics development against the backdrop of population aging and the post-pandemic era. He introduced the hospital’s achievements in geriatrics, including the establishment of a chronic disease management center and regional research projects. He concluded by wishing the conference success and thanking all parties for their support.

02 1st Geriatrics Committee Transition Conference of Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association
Subsequently, Professor Wu Jing from Chengdu Third People's Hospital reported on the accomplishments of the 1st Geriatrics Committee and the preparations for the 2nd Committee. Over the past three years, under the guidance of party building, the committee has actively engaged in academic exchanges, research collaboration, and public education initiatives. Moving forward, it will further integrate multidisciplinary resources to advance geriatrics toward holistic health management, improve healthcare quality through cross-disciplinary collaboration and grassroots services, and contribute to the Healthy China initiative.
In accordance with the Articles of Association and Academic Organization Management Measures of the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association, the conference reviewed and democratically elected the committee’s leadership, including standing committee members, chairperson, and vice-chairpersons.
Professor Wu Jing from Chengdu Third People's Hospital was re-elected as the committee chairperson. Professor Li Xingsheng from Chongqing Medical University Affiliated Second Hospital, Professor Zhang Jun from Chengdu First People's Hospital, Professor Shu Yan from Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, Professor Hu Yongmei from Chengdu Second People's Hospital, Professor Xie Wen from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital, Professor Zhou Lihua from Chengdu Fifth People's Hospital, and Professor Huang Yan from Sichuan Modern Hospital were elected as vice-chairpersons.
Feng Huaizhi, Director of the Medical-Engineering Integration and Collaborative Innovation Center of Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association, presented appointment letters to the newly elected chairperson and vice-chairpersons.
After her re-election, Professor Wu Jing delivered a speech, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the trust and support of leaders at all levels and all committee members. She pledged to shoulder the responsibility with a sense of mission, collaborate closely with the committee, and strive for new progress in geriatrics to improve health services for the elderly and advance the field.
Feng Huaizhi, Director of the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association, addressed the conference, congratulating all newly elected committee members and highly commending the committee’s past work. He emphasized that the conference addressed the needs of an aging society, gathered top experts to discuss key topics such as cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, and rational drug use, and pledged the association’s continued role as a platform to drive medical-engineering integration and technological innovation for regional geriatric healthcare development.
