In active response to the "Healthy China 2030" strategic plan, further strengthening the prevention and treatment of obesity and related metabolic diseases, promoting a multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment model, and enhancing the technical expertise of healthcare professionals in obesity management in our province, the Sichuan Province Continuing Medical Education Project "Obesity Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Training Course" (Project No. 25-001-12021720), jointly organized by the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association and Chengdu Hospital of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine, was successfully held in Chengdu from October 18 to 19, 2025.
The conference aimed to update the knowledge framework of healthcare professionals at all levels through systematic theoretical instruction and cutting-edge technology exchanges, fostering a unified understanding of obesity as a complex chronic disease. It sought to move beyond the limitations of relying solely on lifestyle interventions by disseminating the latest diagnostic and treatment concepts, standardized assessment methods, diverse treatment strategies (including nutritional, pharmacological, psychological, and surgical interventions), and long-term follow-up management plans. By cultivating a core group of professionals proficient in advanced obesity diagnosis and treatment technologies, the initiative will effectively promote the dissemination of high-quality medical resources, gradually narrow regional disparities in diagnosis and treatment capabilities, and thereby enhance overall weight management and health levels among residents in Sichuan Province. This effort lays a solid foundation of talent for advancing the "Healthy Sichuan" initiative and alleviating the social and economic burden of obesity-related diseases.
