To promote the construction of the medical discipline of vascular tumors and vascular malformations, standardize the diagnosis and treatment practices, and facilitate academic exchanges and cooperation, the "Fifth Western Vascular Tumors and Vascular Malformations Academic Conference" and the "2026 Sichuan Vascular Tumors and Vascular Malformations Alliance Academic Conference" jointly organized by Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, and hosted by Sichuan University West Second Hospital and Chengdu High-tech Medical Association Vascular Tumors and Vascular Malformations Professional Committee, were successfully held in Chengdu from April 17th to 18th, 2026. This event also marked the launch of the "2026 Academic Conference of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association Vascular Tumors and Vascular Malformations Professional Committee" and the "National Clinical Key Specialty Project Construction".

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Hu Fan, the chairperson of the Vascular Tumors and Vascular Malformations Professional Committee of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association. Professor Zhou Kaiyu from West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University and Vice President and Secretary-General Ai He of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association attended the meeting and delivered speeches. They warmly congratulated the convening of the conference and sincerely welcomed all the experts and colleagues from afar. They pointed out that vascular tumors and vascular malformations are interdisciplinary diseases, involving multiple fields such as pediatrics, dermatology, interventional medicine, and plastic surgery. They hoped that through this academic conference, multi-disciplinary collaboration could be further strengthened, and the diagnosis and treatment could be standardized and precise, benefiting the vast number of patients.

This conference invited several renowned experts in the field of hemangioma and vascular malformations from China to deliver special reports. The attending experts discussed in depth and shared their experiences on hot and difficult issues such as the treatment of complex arteriovenous malformations, the mechanism research of pathological vascular growth in infantile hemangioma, the surgical treatment concepts of vascular malformations, the treatment of high-risk special-site venous malformations, and the interventional treatment of vascular malformations.

The conference also set up a special session for basic research. Experts and scholars discussed in depth the latest fields such as the pathogenesis and pathological diagnosis of hemangiomas and vascular malformations. The participating representatives from all over the country actively interacted with each other, and the discussion was lively. The conference also arranged multiple special discussions. The attending experts shared their experiences and engaged in academic debates on clinical practical issues such as the Camer phenomenon, vascular malformations, pediatric cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, and lymphatic malformations.

The successful holding of this conference has further promoted academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of vascular tumors and vascular malformations in the region, showcased the latest research achievements and clinical progress in this field, and played a positive role in improving the overall diagnosis and treatment level of vascular tumors and vascular malformations.
