On August 16, 2025, the annual academic conference of the Minimally Invasive Interventional Oncology Professional Committee, co-hosted by the Yunnan Provincial Medical Association and the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association, was successfully held in Kunming. With the core theme of “Precision Intervention · Integration and Innovation,” the conference brought together over 100 leading experts in the field of interventional medicine from medical institutions in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. Through cutting-edge academic presentations, in-depth specialized discussions, and case analyses, the event systematically explored new pathways and paradigms for the development of minimally invasive interventional techniques in oncology, injecting strong momentum into the standardized development of interventional oncology diagnostics and treatment in Southwest China.

The conference invited Wu Yongshou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Yunnan Provincial People's Hospital; Professor Ai He, Vice President and Deputy Secretary-General of Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association; Professor Xiao Yueyong from the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army; and Professor Liao Zhengyin from West China Hospital of Sichuan University to deliver speeches at the conference.

The conference focused on in-depth discussions surrounding core clinical challenges in the field of tumor intervention. Scholars concentrated on comprehensive intervention strategies for portal hypertension complicated by bleeding, with the balance between tumor control and functional preservation through minimally invasive intervention techniques emerging as a key topic. Additionally, the optimization of related technical pathways provided new insights for clinical practice.

The innovative application of precise embolization techniques garnered significant attention. The efficacy validation of new embolization materials in the treatment of hemoptysis in lung cancer and local therapy for liver cancer signifies a significant step toward targeted and precise tumor intervention. Additionally, the conference systematically reviewed standardized procedures for emergency intervention and reached preliminary consensus on the indications for specialized techniques such as intraluminal targeted therapy and cryoablation, laying the groundwork for their promotion in primary care settings.

Through in-depth discussions of complex cases selected across provinces, we systematically analyzed individualized interventional treatment plans for challenging conditions such as primary liver cancer and lower limb sarcoma. Technical exchanges were conducted around topics including comprehensive treatment for unresectable tumors, interventional responses to acute and critical conditions, and innovations in minimally invasive techniques. Experts at the conference distilled core principles for managing complex cases on-site, reinforcing the standardization and normalization of clinical procedures.

This Sichuan-Yunnan Tumor Interventional Academic Conference featured cutting-edge reports and in-depth discussions, providing a systematic exchange of technical innovations and experience in handling complex cases in the field of minimally invasive tumor intervention. It aimed to enhance the standardization of regional diagnosis and treatment, establish an efficient collaborative platform for interventional disciplines in Southwest China, and inject new momentum into the complementary sharing of medical resources across provinces.
