Chikungunya fever was first identified in an outbreak in Tanzania in 1952. The first case in China was reported in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, in 1987. Over 100 countries worldwide have reported cases.

From January to June 2025, approximately 220,000 Chikungunya fever cases and 80 deaths were reported across 14 countries and regions globally.

As of July 26, Guangdong province has reported a cumulative total of 4,824 local Chikungunya fever cases this year. All cases are mild, and 3,224 patients have been cured and discharged or released from medical observation.

The disease is transmitted through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes. Symptoms include fever, joint pain, rash, etc. There is currently no specific antiviral drug treatment!

The key to prevention is eliminating stagnant water, eliminating adult mosquitoes, and preventing mosquito bites.⬇️
