Building a New Anesthesia Hub in Chengdu-Chongqing, Safeguarding Perioperative Care Together—The 2026 Academic Conference of the Chengdu-Chongqing Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Professional Committee Concludes Successfully

To better advance the development of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine in Sichuan and Chongqing, enhance the professional and management capabilities of medical staff, and promote exchange and learning, the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association and Chongqing Medical University Affiliated First Hospital. Organized by the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association's Chengdu-Chongqing Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Specialized Committee, Obstetrics and Gynecology Anesthesiology Working Group, and Perioperative Nursing Working Group, the “2026 Academic Conference of the Chengdu-Chongqing Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Specialized Committee” was successfully held in Chongqing on January 17. This conference focused on cutting-edge advancements and clinical practices in anesthesia and perioperative medicine, attracting active participation from numerous medical professionals in anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, and related fields across Sichuan and Chongqing.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Wei Ke, Chair of the Chengdu-Chongqing Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Committee. Keynote addresses were delivered by Professor Min Su from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Professor Liu Jin from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Vice President He Jianguo from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, and Ai He, Vice President and Deputy Secretary-General of the Chengdu High-Tech Medical Association. With their heartfelt messages, the curtain officially rose on this conference.

The morning session at the main venue focused on topics including the development of anesthesiology, quality control management, basic research, and guideline interpretation. Renowned experts from Chengdu and Chongqing delivered insightful presentations on core aspects of modern anesthesia, departmental quality control, mechanisms of acute lung injury, and guidelines for renal transplant anesthesia, collectively advancing patient safety in the perioperative period.

Five concurrent sessions will be held simultaneously in the afternoon, each featuring distinct themes and practical content. Session One focuses on new anesthetic technologies and perioperative safety, covering hot topics such as the development of novel intravenous anesthetics, pain-free diagnostics and treatments, visualization techniques, hemodynamic monitoring, machine learning-based early warning systems, and closed-loop management of perioperative adverse events. This reflects the trend toward precision and intelligent development in the field of anesthesiology.

Session 2 focused on clinical challenges and specialized advancements, discussing practical topics including guidelines for difficult airway management, perioperative EEG monitoring, frailty and rehabilitation in elderly patients, emergency tracheal intubation, anesthesia for hip fractures in the elderly, prevention and treatment of intraoperative cerebral edema, lung isolation techniques, and anesthesia for TAVI procedures. These discussions provided new insights for complex clinical scenarios.

Session 3 focuses on anesthetic pharmacology, pain management, and insomnia treatment. Topics include research on α2-adrenergic receptor agonists and sleep, interpretation of total intravenous anesthesia guidelines, analgesia in dental clinics, postoperative pain trajectories, diagnosis and treatment of refractory insomnia, withdrawal from hypnotic drugs, perioperative ultrasound safety, and chronic pain in children, showcasing diverse strategies for pain management.

Session 4 features a dedicated track on obstetric and pediatric anesthesia, systematically covering key challenges and emerging topics in maternal and child anesthesia. This includes: - Highlights from the literature on obstetric anesthesia - Management of pregnancy complicated by pulmonary hypertension - Pediatric high-flow oxygen therapy - Autologous blood recovery - Anesthesia for neonatal thoracic surgery - General anesthesia for cesarean section - Obstetric complications - Postpartum depression interventions

Session 5 focuses on perioperative nursing and management innovation, covering topics such as thermal regulation, anesthesia nursing unit development, innovative work experiences, high-quality operating room advancement, translational research on clinical issues, nursing competency enhancement, and nursing practice under the 15th Five-Year Plan policies. This session highlights the critical role of nursing professionals within the perioperative team.
