To safeguard the bright vision of the people, to pool the wisdom of the ophthalmology industry, to drive the improvement and efficiency of medical care through cutting-edge technologies and academic innovation, to promote high-quality development of ophthalmology in the region, and to better meet the multi-level and high-quality eye health needs of the public, on June 13, 2026, the "Fifth Academic Conference of the Ophthalmology Committee and the Establishment Ceremony of the Retina Disease Group and the Cataract Refractive Optics Group, as well as the Erliangcheng Clinical Debating and Enhancement Class" was successfully held in Chengdu, organized by Chengdu High-tech Medical Association and jointly hosted by Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital and Sichuan Eye Hospital. Over 150 ophthalmology experts, committee members and medical staff from all over the province gathered in Chengdu to discuss the development of the discipline, share the latest technologies, and jointly study clinical difficulties.
Re-election of committee members and establishment of working groups
At the beginning of the meeting, the conference completed the supplementary work of the second-term members and vice-members of the Ophthalmology Committee in accordance with the procedures. Through the processes of qualification review and democratic election, a total of 17 new members and 1 new vice-member were added this time. This further enriched the talent pipeline of the committee and optimized the organizational structure, injecting new vitality into regional ophthalmology academic work.
Subsequently, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Charter" and "Academic Organization Management Measures" of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, the conference approved and officially announced the establishment of the Ophthalmology Group and the Cataract Refractive Optics Group. Ophthalmology Group: Professor He Yue from Southwest Medical University Affiliated Hospital was elected as the group leader. Doctor Deng Chunchuan from Daqing Central Hospital, Doctor Qiao Gang from Mianyang Wanjiang Eye Hospital, Doctor Qiao Li Feng from Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, and Doctor Yang Xiaoli from North Sichuan Medical College Affiliated Hospital were elected as deputy leaders (listed in alphabetical order by surnames).
Cataract Refractive Optics Group: Professor Wang Zhanfeng from the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu was elected as the group leader. Bai Ying from the Sixth People's Hospital of Chengdu, Chen Xiaofeng from the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu, Ye Hongquan from the People's Hospital of Leshan, and Zhou Jin from the Sichuan Eye Hospital were elected as deputy leaders (listed in alphabetical order by surnames).
Diseases of the fundus and cataract refractive errors are core sub-specialties in ophthalmology, closely related to the eye health and well-being of the general public. The establishment of these two academic groups is in line with the trend of specialization and refinement in ophthalmology, and will effectively unite the professional strength, focus on clinical pain points, unify diagnostic and treatment norms, delve into technological innovation, and cultivate professional talents, promoting the steady improvement of the diagnostic and treatment levels of these two sub-specialties.

He stated that this addition of committee members and establishment of subcommittees marked the entry of the committee into a new stage of development. This academic event is rich in content and diverse in form, featuring two main sections: specialized academic sharing and the "Erli Rongcheng Clinical Debate Enhancement Class". During the clinical reasoning enhancement session in Erliu City, the participants conducted in-depth discussions on typical and difficult cases such as orbital diseases, correction of ptosis, complications after corneal refractive surgery, ocular trauma, and retinal hemorrhage.
