
To promote the downward flow of high-quality medical resources and deepen the full-process care and support for colorectal cancer patients, the Colorectal Cancer Professional Committee of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Professional Committee") joined hands with Jingyang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Deyang City and successfully held the first "Intestinal Journey Together" public welfare intestinal friend gathering at the Huanghe Campus of Jingyang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine on September 20, 2025. This event is an important part of the series of activities organized by the special committee to serve the grassroots and care for patients. It aims to directly bring cutting-edge prevention and treatment knowledge as well as professional rehabilitation guidance to patients and their families.

As an important participant and supporting force of this event, the Special Committee has specially invited Professor Wang Xiaodong, an expert in colorectal cancer from West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Head Nurse Wen Yue, a nursing expert, to the scene for guidance. The hospital also invited Professor Pu Lin, a senior wound and ostomy therapist, as well as Dr. Zhao Guanghui, the director of the Surgery department, and Dr. Meng Xiaoqin, the director of the Rehabilitation Department of Jingyang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other expert teams to jointly bring a rich and warm health event to over 60 postoperative colorectal cancer patients and their families.

During the event, experts delivered a series of informative lectures on the issues that patients were most concerned about. Professor Wang Xiaodong, the chairperson of the special committee, elaborated in depth on the latest treatment concepts of colorectal cancer, the importance of standardized postoperative treatment and follow-up, and pointed out a scientific rehabilitation direction for the patients. Professor Pu Lin, a stoma therapist, gave a detailed explanation and operational demonstration on the common problems and difficulties in stoma care. Director Meng Xiaoqin from the Rehabilitation Department of Jingyang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine demonstrated and guided the daily postoperative rehabilitation training methods on the spot from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation. Professor Wu Xia provided professional and practical suggestions on topics such as the necessity of colonoscopy and the interpretation of the report.
During the highly anticipated free expert consultation session, Professor Wang Xiaodong and other specially invited experts, along with the experts from Jingyang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, jointly took charge. They patiently and meticulously reviewed the medical records of each patient who came for consultation, analyzed the reports, answered their questions, and provided personalized rehabilitation guidance. The on-site atmosphere was lively, achieving a zero-distance connection between expert resources and patient needs, filled with the warmth of mutual trust between doctors and patients.

This colorectal cancer patients' meeting not only provided a warm haven for patients to acquire knowledge and share experiences, but also marked a solid step forward for the special committee in promoting the homogenization of colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment in the region and improving the service level for grassroots patients.
