Recently, the Sichuan Nursing Association officially announced the results of the 2025 nursing research project approval. The scientific research project "Research on the Construction of a Doctor-Patient Joint Decision-making Support Tool for ICU Terminally Ill Patients" led by Liu Mengjie, the chairperson of the Palliative Care Professional Committee of Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, has been successfully approved as a "Major Project" after strict review. This is a major breakthrough achieved by the special committee in the field of scientific research, marking a new step forward for the Special committee in academic research and clinical practice exploration of palliative care.

The major projects approved this time closely revolve around the growing demand for hospice care services in the context of an aging society in our country. They focus on the core and difficult issues in hospice care practice, directly address clinical pain points, and concentrate on the critical scenario of the ICU end-of-life stage, which is the most complex in medical decision-making and carries the heaviest emotional burden. The aim is to build a set of scientific, standardized and localized decision-making assistance tools for both doctors and patients through systematic research. In order to assist family members in making medical decisions that are more in line with the patient's own values and preferences on the basis of full understanding and support, while alleviating the confusion and anxiety of family members in emergency decision-making, reducing the communication difficulty and moral dilemmas of medical staff, and promoting harmonious doctor-patient relations.

The successful approval of this project is attributed to the long-term dedication of the special committee in this field. In the future, under the overall planning of the Chengdu High-tech Medical Association, the special committee will integrate clinical resources from multiple centers, strictly adhere to research ethics, steadily advance the implementation of projects, and strive to form a replicable, evaluable and sustainable practice model, so that research achievements can truly benefit patients, families and the medical system.
